Four sheriff's deputies have been suspended after purposely tipping a paralyzed man out of his wheelchair onto a jailhouse floor.
Surveillance footage from Jan. 29 shows Hillsborough County deputy Charlette Marshall-Jones dumping Brian Sterner out of his wheelchair and searching him on the floor after he was brought in on a warrant after a traffic violation.
Sterner said when he was taken into booking room and told to stand up, Jones grew agitated when he told her that he could not. Obviouisly she didn't believe him. The moments were recorded by cameras in Orient Road Jail.
The Deputy involved is quoted as saying "I feel positive. When I know I'm not wrong, I feel that way. ... I do believe the truth will come out, but I can't offer more than that." But it's hard to imagine what would justify dumping a paralyzed man onto the floor.

Looks like another 4 officers are going to get paid holidays. There was another officer losing his cool to a teenager with a skateboard. Again, paid leave... This will continue time and time again. It's time to change the policy regarding suspensions with pay!
If this deputy actually believed that this man was not paralyzed she seems to suffer from an intellectual deficit that makes one wonder how she ever became a person with the least amount of authority. By simply observing his arm/hand movements and by noting the absence of muscle tone on his legs, it doesn't take a genius to realize that this man is unable to stand. Duh!!
Who are these people anyway???
An Observation:
If the man in the wheel chair was black and the Deputy was white, Al Sharpton would be all over this, demanding for retribution and stuff, there would be marches, people would take to the streets calling for the Deputy's head to be handed over....
These officers should be fired without hesitation. I agree with Sterner's attorney the original charge is ludicrous at best and asinine. If these officers will dump a quadriplegic out of his chair it begs one to wonder what else are they doing, and have done, when they think no one is watching? Their behavior in inexcusable - FIRE THEM IMMEDIATELY!!
They should not be afforded any kind of leniency or pension they deserve neither.
