Commuters in Mississauga must have had fun this morning.
A truck carrying cattle flipped on the QEW near Dixie this morning and four animals escaped from the vehicle. The OPP had to shut down the westbound lanes to round up the wandering cows.
The still-scared creatures ended up in a residential neighbourhood where animal control workers and police worked to keep them in sight while awaiting a truck to haul them away.

UPDATED: Sadly one of the animals was shot and killed by OPP officers after it injured two people and then repeatedly charged at police. At least 30 rounds were fired into the cow using handguns.

One animal was shot by the cops - apparently 15 bullets were fired. Dumb ass cops :(
The cops did nothing wrong. That cow was agressive & already hurt people & was going to hurt more. The cops had no intentions to harm the animals, so there was no need to bring in rifles. Pistols are not powerful enough to stop a cow with 1 or 2 shots. Cows bones will stop or redirect the bullets away from the major organs. So the animal had to be shot many times to kill it. There is a reason why you don't hunt with pistols!! They are almost usless...
I somewhat agree with Jess however why was a rifle not brought to the scene? (in case). I think that would have been safer to the public than firing 15+ shots with a handgun trying to bring down a cow. Dumb cops.
Great job cityits. I am sure the evil beast was out to injury everything in it's path.
We have people from Toronto area come to my home town who injure and threaten people all the time! Does this mean we can shoot them now? ..........about time
