Roy Halladay pitched an absolute gem last night. (There is an excellent description of the game by a Yankee fan who was there last night). The best game I've seem him pitch in several years. He dominated the Yankees going 9 full innings and giving up only 2 hits while striking out 8. And one of the hits wouldn't happened if Wells or Rios were playing centrefield. Both were out of the lineup so reserve fielder Brad Wilkerson was filling in. The only other hit was by A-Rod in the 9th.
This was his 7th complete game this season which leads all major leaguers. He is 8-1 in his last 12 starts and his record now stands at 11-6. He is near the top of all AL pitching stats - tied for third in wins; 5th in ERA; 1st in innings pitched; 2nd in strikeouts; tied for first in shutouts; and 1st in complete games.
His win total would be better but Blue Jay pitchers do not get much run support. There are other great pitchers on better teams but Halladay is making a strong case for another Cy Young.

Thank you for linking to my post about the Yankees - Blue Jays game. I appreciate that you thought my work was "excellent" but I am greatly offended that you called me a Yankees fan. What have I done to deserve such an insult?
I am actually a Mets fan (hence several references to Shea) but I am the son of a Toronto-born mother, so I have an affinity for the Blue Jays as well.
While I enjoyed the chance the see a young phenom such as Joba Chamberlain I thought I made it clear I was rooting against the Yankees (which is why I titled the post "happy recap," a nod to Mets announcer Bob Murphy and the blog I write about the Mets, named in Murphy's honor).
Maybe something I did or said offended you in some way but I really think calling someone a Yankees fan is a low-blow.
I would never use such hurtful language about someone I didn't even know and hope this is all a simple misunderstanding.
