'Naked Rambler' leaves jail naked, jailed again

Stephen Gough won't put any clothes on and British authorities say they won't stop locking him up until he does. The 52-year-old former soldier, known as the "naked rambler," has spent most of the last decade in prison in Scotland. Yesterday, he walked (naked) out of prison after serving a sentence for breaching the peace and was arrested again within 60 seconds, the BBC reports. He was sentenced to 22 months for breaching the peace and for being in contempt of court by not wearing any clothes.

Gough—who quit his job as a truck driver in 2004 and walked the 900-mile length of Britain wearing only socks and a hat—insists that it is his human right to walk around naked. "What I am doing is based on my belief about what I am and what I am is not indecent," he told the court yesterday. "Ordinary people have prejudices and intolerances."

Yes I know people find him offensive and his behaviour is clearly anti-social but locking up a non-violent person who poses no real danger to society is ridiculous. Well that's my opinion.

I beg to differ.

This is the most dangerous of men.
In a society based on Violence - this man is a worm whose non-violent attitude will eventually rot the society of violence.

He should be locked up and beaten until he conforms to societal norms - VIOLENCE.

Yes, I see where you're coming from Pathdoc. Maybe we should have him run for office so that he can hang out with like minded people.

Pleasde look at his history over the past 10-years, his persistence and continued defiance of the judges and unwillingness to make any kind of compromise. Then tell us what punishment YOU think would be approprtiate, having regard to the fact that the vast majority of Scots find public nudity to be highly offensive and unacceptable.

I see what you mean anon, is that why the Scots wear kilts.
