Mom leaves 5 year old outside bar, in the rain, at night, to drink beer

A woman is now charged with child neglect, after she left her daughter outside a Daytona Beach bar so she could drink.

Police say Sarah Lynn Cheek, 34, left the 5-year-old girl in her stroller around 10 o'clock Thursday night. One of the customers at the bar noticed the girl outside. She told him her mom had said she was going inside to get her a candy bar.

Meanwhile, witnesses say Cheek had at least a couple of drinks during that time. Cheek even asked other bar patrons to keep an eye on her daughter. Police and DCF were contacted.

Police spoke with the 5-year-old's father. He told them he thought his 14-year-old daughter was looking after her.

Cheek was booked into the Volusia County Jail on child neglect charges. Back in 2010, Cheek was charged with grand theft retail.

This is going to sound very judgmental, but I don't Lynn is a very good mother. I can understand the need to down a beer and you can't bring a 5 year old into a bar. I can overlook the fact that it was 10 pm and raining. But when you order that second beer you have crossed the line. Yeah I know I'm being tough.

Woman killed husband for forgetting her birthday

A woman in Russia stabbed her husband to death as he forgot her birthday and returned home from work empty-handed, it was reported here.

Lyalya Tupikova, 45, said that her husband Khalpik didn't remember her birthday.

When he returned home from office in Astrahan in southern Russia, she expected a bunch of flowers and a present. But, Khalpik got nothing for her.

She had cooked a candlelight dinner, said the Daily Mail.

"It was all too much for her and suddenly during the meal she seized a kitchen knife and stabbed him just above the heart," a police spokesman was quoted as saying.

Khalpik, 50, collapsed and died soon afterwards.

Guys this has to be one of the scariest headlines you can imagine. The shmuck paid the ultimate price for forgetting his wife's birthday. I'm worrying about my wife's birthday about a week after the last one. There is nothing more angry then a wife who feels her husband has forgotten about her or tried to get off cheap on her birthday. It's just not worth it guys.

Man imitates Fred Flintstone, attempting to stop truck with his feet

A Warren man is accused of pulling a Fred Flintstone and trying to use his feet to stop his vehicle after his brakes failed, causing him to crash into at least four other cars.

The 24-year-old man attempted to drive home in a vehicle that had no brakes at about 5:45 p.m. Wednesday, said Roseville Deputy Police Chief James Berlin.

The man was traveling in the area of Interstate 696 and Groesbeck Highway, he said. He was sticking his feet out of the vehicle door to slow and stop the vehicle when necessary — "moronic decision-making," according to Berlin.

But he was unable to stop the vehicle when he got to the intersection of Groesbeck and 13 Mile, officials said. His vehicle went through the crossing and struck two vehicles, Berlin said. The damage was minor and no one was injured.

He continued on and tried to use his feet to stop the vehicle as he approached the intersection of Groesbeck and Utica Road. Again unable to stop, he struck two more vehicles.

Berlin said the man was not intoxicated or under the influence of any drugs.

The suspect told police he was tired and was trying to drive home because he had to be at work the next morning. He also told officers his brakes first failed at 11 Mile and Bunert in Warren, but he opted to continue driving home instead of parking the vehicle and calling for help, officials said.

Fired government worker murdered his children and wife after his request for a threesome drove her to lesbian affair'

A man killed his wife and children after introducing her to a lesbian partner that broke up their marriage, a court heard.

According to prosecutors, James Kraig Kahler wanted to introduce another woman into the couple's sex life - leading Karen Kahler to begin a lesbian affair that he then blamed for the breakdown of their marriage.

A defence attorney for Kansas-based , who could face the death penalty if convicted, later dismissed that claim as 'a fantasy.

Kahler's attorneys contend he had been mentally ill for months.

They say he suffered hallucinations and was obsessed with the relationship that his wife, Karen, had with another woman and her pursuit of a divorce.

Dan Pingelton, an attorney who represented Karen Kahler in their divorce, testified that she told him her husband introduced her to Sunny Reese of Weatherford, Texas.

James Kraig Kahler and his attorneys say Mrs Kahler's relationship with Reese broke up the marriage.

The killings occurred months after Kahler was fired from his job as the director of the water department in Columbia, Missouri, Mo.

There are a lot of factors that could have contributed to Jim losing it. He was a public servant - that alone could make you crazy. He lost his job. He was a sexual deviant. His wife left him for her female lover. Come again? Yup the lesbian lover does it every time.

Do Not Name Your Wifi Network ‘FBI SURVEILLANCE VAN’

Police on Wednesday said they had prevented an attack on a Tampa high school after arresting an expelled student and discovering materials at his home to make pipe bombs.

"We were probably able to thwart a potentially catastrophic event the likes of which the city of Tampa has not seen," Tampa Police Chief Jane Castor told a news conference.

Police named the suspect, who was detained and charged on Tuesday, as 17-year-old Jared Cano and said his target was Freedom High School.

Castor said Cano, who was expelled from the school in 2010, had hoped "to cause more casualties than were suffered at Columbine" — a reference to the 1999 massacre at a Colorado high school by two students who killed 12 peers and a teacher.

Authorities said Cano has multiple juvenile arrests. Charges have included burglary, carrying a concealed weapon, altering serial numbers on a firearm and drug possession. All have been either dismissed or no action has been taken.

Acting on a tip from an informant Tuesday morning, police learned that Cano had been planning his attack to take place on the first day of class next Tuesday, Castor said. Two faculty members were specifically targeted, she added. Two days before he was arrested Cano posted on his Facebook that his friend had tried to connect to a wireless network and spied a wifi network named "FBI_SURVEILLANCE_VAN."

Cano's mother, a math teacher at another Tampa high school, consented to a police search of the family home on Tuesday.

Evidence found in the search included a "manifesto" with drawings of school rooms and statements apparently indicating his intention to carry out a deadly attack, authorities said.

Police also found timing and fusing devices, and other material that could have been used to make a bomb such as fuel sources, shrapnel and plastic tubing, Castor said.

Thank God this guy was caught before he did some serious damage. But lost in the story is how the FBI tips off the whole world that they are on your case. The surveillance team uses a wireless network named "FBI_SURVEILLANCE_VAN. Is the FBI really so dumb that they gave themselves away to a mark like this? And when the climb out of their van are they wearing windbreakers with FBI in giant letters on the back? As it turns out there are a lot of smart asses out there that name their wifi FBI SURVEILLANCE VAN. It was all just a coincidence.

Moments after the South Tower fell, Chief J. Pfeifer (inside of North Tower) said on the radio the order to all firemen, at least twice, "Evacuate the building".

The United Nations building evacuatest 10:13 AM EST, including 4,700 people from the headquarters building and 7,000 total from UNICEF and U.N. development programs.

In Washington, the State Department and Justice Department are evacuated, along with the World Bank.

All inbound flight traffic destined for the United States is ordered to be diverted to Canada.

The World Trade Center's north tower collapses at 10:28 AM EST from the top down, falling in upon itself and generating a tremendous cloud of debris and smoke. Hundreds of innocent lives, and lives of the heroes who tried to save them are lost. The New York skyline is forever changed.

Worst babysitter ever?

Keyona Davis, from Florida, was stopped by police after witnesses spotted her sitting in the back of the truck, with the stroller and the baby inside. The driver, a Mr. White, was cited for reckless driving, but Davis got off a bit harsher—felony child neglect, to add to a rap sheet of previous charges. She is being held in jail on a $5,000 bond, and will not be getting a recommendation from the baby’s family.

Click the jump to see the police dashboard camera, which caught the vehicle in the act. To be fair, she also sat in the back of the truck with the baby and the stroller, which makes it safe! And a note to aspiring babysitters: the Subaru Brat was taken out of production for a reason.

Woman shows jury photo of gay rights tattoo on her butt to prove she is not homophobic

A woman who showed a jury a picture of a rainbow–coloured tattoo on her buttock to prove she was not guilty of a homophobic attack will not face a retrial. Lauren Proverbs produced the photograph of the flowershaped tattoo, saying it was a symbol of her support for homosexual and lesbian causes. Miss Proverbs, 21, who was accused of hurling abuse at Gina Landon, said she got the tattoo in Spain in 2008 while in a lesbian relationship herself.

She admitted she threw a punch at Miss Landon, who was out with her female girlfriend, but said she was acting in self defence, fearing she was about to be beaten up during a row outside a takeaway in Borehamwood, Herts. At the end of the trial on Aug 4 at Luton Crown Court, the jury were unable to reach a verdict on a charge that Miss Proverbs, of Borehamwood, caused actual bodily harm. Alison Ginn, prosecuting, told Judge Stephen Farrell QC that, having consulted Miss Landon, there was not to be a retrial. The judge recorded a not guilty verdict.

Mom arrested for two DUIs in one morning

A 23-year-old woman traveling with her 4-year-old daughter was arrested and charged with driving under the influence this morning on Route 50, just hours after being arrested on the same charge in Worcester County.

Ann Marie Abdullin of Salisbury was stopped on Route 50 and Hobbs Road this morning at 4:30 a.m. by the Salisbury barrack of the Maryland State Police for alleged traffic violations. Police say Abdullin had her 4-year-old daughter in the car at the time of the stop.

Police say Abdullin had just been released from the Berlin barrack of the Maryland State Police after being arrested for driving while impaired by alcohol at 1:30 a.m. Abdullin was released from the Berlin barrack to a sober driver, who police say transported her back to her vehicle and allowed her to drive away. Charges are pending against that person, according to police.

Abdullin was placed under arrest and transported to the Wicomico County Detention Center after refusing her second breath test. She faces charges of driving while impaired, driving under the influence, operating motor vehicle within 12 hours of being arrested for DUI, negligent driving and other minor traffic charges.

Police looking for robber with flowery miniskirt and panties over his head

Detectives from the Dallas Police Departments Crimes Against Persons Unit are asking for the public's assistance in identifying and locating an aggravated robbery suspect who robbed the Exxon Tigermart at 2503 Lemmon Ave. This offence took place on August 16, 2011 at 5:25 AM.

In the surveillance video, the suspect is seen entering the store wearing what appears to be a black and white flower dress with white boots. His face is also covered with what appears to be undergarments. He demands money from the cashier and a patron while holding what could possibly be a gun under the dress. He then flees the store in an unknown direction. The suspect is described as a white male, 5'05" and weighing 145 lbs.

I have to admit he seems to know how to dress. The white boot and panties certainly match with his floral white and black dress. Though I think he would have been better off with a pair of black boots. The white boots clash.

Passengers begin an all out assault on the cockpit of United Flight 93 attempting to reclaim control of the aircraft from the three hijackers now barricaded within. This action is believed to have caused the hijackers to give up plans for attacking a fourth target, speculated to have been the White House itself.

With fires burning unchecked for more than an hour, the South Tower of the World Trade Center succumbs to gravity and stress, falling to the street below at 9:59 EST. Hundreds still trapped within the building, and countless heroes who ran into the building to help with evacuation are killed in an instant.

Flight 93, the last of the hijacked aircraft crashes into a field near Stonycreek Township, PA at 10:10 AM EST. It is speculated that the passengers aboard the flight breached the cockpit door and disrupted the navigation of the plane causing it to roll over on its belly and strike the ground at more than 550 mph.

Due to the force of the impact and raging fires, one of the outer walls on the western face of the Pentagon collapses.

Trampy teen Facebook pics protected by U.S. constitution

A school that cracked down on lewd Facebook lollipop photos got licked in court. Teenagers have a constitutional right to post racy photos of themselves online without being disciplined by their school, an Indiana federal judge has ruled. The ACLU filed a lawsuit on behalf of two girls who were suspended from high school cheerleading and a sports team after they posted photos of themselves getting overly friendly with "phallic-shaped rainbow-colored lollipops," and other hot shots, according to court filings. The judge ruled that it was unconstitutional for administrators to discipline students for "out of school conduct that brings dishonor or discredit upon the school."

During one sleepover, the girls took a number of photographs of themselves sucking on the lollipops. In one, three girls are pictured and M.K. [a plaintiff] added the caption “Wanna suck on my c**k.” In another photograph, a fully-clothed M.K. is sucking on one lollipop while another lollipop is positioned between her legs and a fully-clothed T.V. [the second plaintiff] is pretending to suck on it…

Woman sues after being stuck in bathtub for over 30 hours

During a video testimonial for one of Premier Care in Bathing’s walk-in tubs, a happy customer declares: “I could have stayed in there until I became a prune.”

Chances are, Anna Cullen won’t be making a similar video, after she claimed in a lawsuit filed in Cook County Monday that she became “wedged” in one of the South Daytona, Fla., company’s tubs for more than 30 hours.

“That was the lousiest $12,000 I ever put out,” Cullen, who lives in western Illinois, told the Chicago Sun-Times. “I ended up in the hospital for four days, and then in a nursing home for three months.”

Cullen said she was in shock when her daughter finally found her — unconscious.

Cullen stepped into her Sanctuary model tub Sept. 4, 2010, according to the lawsuit. It was just the second time she’d used the tub, which says she had installed a few days earlier.

“As the tub was filling with water, she fell and became wedged in the front of the tub,” the lawsuit states.

When Cullen realized she was stuck, she tried to yank on the chain connected to the drain stopper, but while she was doing that, the chain broke, according to the lawsuit.

“She remained stuck in the walk-in tub and the water for more than 30 hours, and her inability to drain the water resulted in significant injuries to her skin,” the suit states.

The lawsuit blames “the failure and/or malfunction of the drain” for Cullen’s inability to free herself.

The suit seeks “in excess of $50,000 plus the costs of suit.”

Is there such a thing as negative product placement?

With their quick rise to fame, the cast of MTV reality show “Jersey Shore” has cashed in on a number of endorsement deals, including weight loss supplements, alcohol and bronzer.

But here’s a first. Teen apparel retailer Abercrombie & Fitch Co. is offering to pay Michael “The Situation” Sorrentino not to wear its merchandise.

The New Albany, Ohio company released a statement Tuesday evening titled “A Win-Win Situation,” in which it stated a “deep concern” over the association between Mr. Sorrentino and the brand. A&F offered up a “substantial payment” to Mr. Sorrentino “to wear an alternate brand.”

“We understand that the show is for entertainment purposes, but believe this association is contrary to the aspirational nature of our brand, and may be distressing to many of our fans,” the statement read.

The company also extended the pay-to-not-play offer to the other Jersey Shore reality stars and said it was “urgently waiting a response.”

Sure this might be just a clever publicity stunt but just maybe A&F are so concerned about the image of the lousy brand that they would pay celebrities not to wear their stuff. It's like negative product placement. If Casey Anthony needs some cash all she needs to do is grab some A&F gear and parade around in the stuff. Next thing you know the cheques start coming in the mail. Easy money.

Darling, for your birthday I got you the biggest rock I could find

The mayor of a small town near Montreal is under investigation for mischief and harassment after he admitted to dumping a 20-ton boulder on the driveway of his ex-wife. Dany Larivière, the mayor of Saint-Théodore-d’Acton and the owner of an excavation company, says he placed the giant rock in his ex-wife’s driveway to try to get her to stop harassing him. Mr. Larivière, who festooned the rock with a giant bow and sprayed it with fluorescent orange birthday greetings, played coy in a number of interviews, saying the boulder was simply a gift for his ex.

“She never had a rock big enough for her tastes, now she has one,” Mr. Larivière said. He became something of a celebrity Monday as many media outlets treated the act as a gag.

Mr. Larivière delivered the load with a front-end loader at about 3 a.m. on Monday. He said he was stopped twice by police who were suspicious of the movement of heavy construction equipment in the middle of the night. After checking his driver’s licence and the insurance and registration on the loader, they let him carry on, he said.

That's about 20 tons of anger sitting in that driveway. The lucky kids in the middle of that.

Sword-swallower arrested while busking

An acclaimed Aussie sword-swallower was arrested while busking in New York for "brandishing a sword in public".

The Space Cowboy - real name Chayne Hultgren, 33, from Byron Bay, NSW - claims police threw him into a packed cell, saying: "Don't tell these guys you swallow."

"After 24 hours locked up I am now released from jail," he said on his Facebook page.

"All my performance props have been confiscated but I am a free man. They charged me for 'disorderly conduct' and I was locked up with junkies, sexual offenders and four break-dancers."

Mr Hultgren, who claimed the unofficial world record of swallowing 27 swords at the Irish Street Performance Festival and holds the official world record of 18 swallows at once, said an officer approached him as he performed in front of a large street crowd and said: "I don't care if you are a sword swallower, you were holding a sword in public and I have every right to shoot you."

"As soon as most of the crowd dispersed I was cuffed and aggressively guided into the back of a police vehicle," he said. "I spent the next 24 hours handcuffed and locked up in a cell. No bed, no food, no rights.

Brett Lawrie lives up to the hype

The legend of Brett Lawrie grows. The Jays’ rookie third baseman stood in the batter’s box in the ninth inning staring down Angels closer Jordan Walden. The Langley, B.C. native worked the count to 3-1, then took what he though was ball four. No. He stepped back in and ripped a double to the alley in left centre field scoring Colby Rasmus to tie the game at four. Not done, Lawrie stole third with one out, forcing the Angels to a five-man infield. J.P. Arencibia fanned, the Angels moved back to their normal defence and John McDonald popped up sending the game to extra innings.
